A talk organised on the occasion of the 28th edition of Luci d’Artista Torino, which included in its programme the neon works created for our outdoor spaces by Marcello Maloberti, as part of a partnership with the Piedmont-based event. The meeting features a public discussion starting from a project such as Luci d’Artista, one of the most important and long-standing examples of public art in Italy. Topics range from the use of light in art to the role of luminous works in urban space, as well as issues related to the restoration and conservation of ephemeral artworks. The discussion is framed within the history of a language that first developed within our institution, when in the early 1950s Lucio Fontana created the celebrated neon installation for the Scalone d’Onore.

Speakers:
Damiano Gullì, curator for contemporary art and the public program at Triennale Milano
Antonio Grulli, curator of Luci d'Artista Torino
Marcello Maloberti, artist
Simona Malvezzi, architect and co-founder of the Berlin-based studio KUEHN MALVEZZI
Gianfranco Maraniello, art historian, critic, and museologist. Director of the Area of Modern and Contemporary Art Museums of the City of Milan
