Vedere le cose (per A.S.) (Seeing Things (for A.S.), 2025) is a site-specific installation by Joseph Kosuth. The work, a “writing in light” stretching for 28 metres along the Via Marconi side of the Museum, transforms its exterior wall into a space for reflection in dialogue with the city. Acquired by the City of Milan, it has become part of the Museum’s permanent collection.
“The present, which is to time what the façade is to space, prevents us from seeing things in depth”: these are the words, drawn from Alberto Savinio’s Scritti dispersi (1943–1952), that Joseph Kosuth chose to render in neon on the Museum’s façade. The metaphysical reflection evoked by Savinio thus meets Kosuth’s conceptual language, inviting us to look beyond the immediacy of the present and seek new possibilities of meaning in the depth of things.
The project emerged as part of Metafisica/Metafisiche, the major exhibition spanning multiple venues that explored the persistence of the metaphysical vision from the early twentieth century to the present day.
